Mission. The Center for Learning and Health is a treatment-research unit focused on developing and evaluating novel operant treatments to address the interrelated problems of poverty and substance abusedrug addiction.

Main Programs

Therapeutic Workplace Training Program. (6/1996-present; 35 treatment slots) A novel employment-based drug abuse treatment program that provides basic skills education, job skills training, social skills development, and abstinence contingent salary to chronically unemployed substance abusers.

Therapeutic Workplace Business: Johns Hopkins Data Services. (4/2000-present; 15 treatment slots). A data entry business that employs successful participants from the Therapeutic Workplace Training Program as data entry operators. This business maintains long-term salary-based abstinence reinforcement, employment, and tailored contingencies to maintain high quality job performance.
